1. Service Description
Garage Scan ("we," "our," or "us") provides a smart garage monitoring and shipment tracking platform. The Service allows you to:
- Sign in securely using your Google account or email
- Scan a QR code to pair and connect a Garage Scan hardware device
- View a live video stream from your connected garage device
- Manage device settings, status, and access permissions
- Automatically detect and track incoming package deliveries via Gmail integration
- Purchase Garage Scan products through our online store
These Terms govern your use of the Garage Scan website, web application, and connected hardware (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
2. Account Registration
To use the Service, you must create an account using your email address or Google Sign-In. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and profile photo for authentication purposes.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
3. Google Sign-In & Gmail Access
When you authenticate with Google Sign-In, Garage Scan uses your email and name solely to create and identify your account.
To enable shipment tracking, Garage Scan requests the following additional Gmail permissions — separately and only when you choose to connect Gmail:
gmail.metadata— to scan email subject lines and sender addresses to identify shipping-related emailsgmail.readonly— to read the body of identified shipping confirmation emails only
By connecting Gmail, you explicitly grant Garage Scan permission to:
- Scan your inbox subject lines and sender addresses to detect shipping emails
- Read only emails identified as shipping confirmations from carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, Amazon, USPS, etc.)
- Extract only the tracking ID and carrier name from those emails
- Display extracted tracking information on your dashboard
You explicitly acknowledge that Garage Scan:
- Does NOT read, store, or process any email content beyond shipping confirmation emails
- Does NOT use Gmail data for advertising, profiling, or AI/ML training
- Does NOT share or sell Gmail data to any third party
- Does NOT allow humans to access your email content except for security investigations with your explicit consent
- Uses Gmail data solely to provide shipment tracking features to you
Revoking Gmail access:
You may disconnect Gmail at any time from your dashboard settings or at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Upon revocation all Gmail access stops immediately.
Our use of Google API data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy including the Limited Use requirements.
4. User Responsibilities
When using the Service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
- Keep your account credentials confidential and notify us of any unauthorized access
- Properly install and maintain your Garage Scan hardware per provided instructions
- Use the live streaming feature only for monitoring your own property
- Manage access permissions responsibly
- Comply with all applicable local laws regarding security cameras and video recording
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with Garage Scan hardware or software
- Use the Service to surveil, harass, or infringe on the privacy of others
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or connected networks
- Use automated tools to access the Service without our written permission
6. Purchases & Payments
Purchases are processed through our payment provider. All prices are in USD. We do not store your payment card details.
7. Hardware & Streaming Disclaimer
By using the Service, you acknowledge:
- Live streaming quality depends on your internet connection and device hardware
- The Service may experience downtime due to maintenance or factors beyond our control
- You are responsible for proper installation of your Garage Scan device
- Garage Scan is not a substitute for a professional security system
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
- Garage Scan is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- We are not responsible for theft, property damage, or loss of packages
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from profile settings. All personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
We may suspend or terminate your account for Terms violations, fraudulent activity, or if required by law.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with the following third-party providers: Google (authentication and Gmail API): policies.google.com/privacy — Amazon Web Services (AWS) including Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IoT Core, SQS, and SNS: aws.amazon.com/privacy — Firebase (FCM) for push notifications: firebase.google.com/support/privacy — Supabase for database hosting (used as database only; Supabase Auth is disabled): supabase.com/privacy. Each provider's own terms and privacy policies apply.
11. Changes to These Terms
We will update the "Last updated" date and notify you of material changes via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
